Biography
Kora Connection è stata fondata nel 2022 da Diego Catalano, suonatore di kora, percussionista e compositore, che porta il suo amore per la kora oltre i confini fisici e stilistici, costruendo ed esplorando con le sue composizioni nuovi paesaggi sonori musicali, arricchiti dall'eclettico marimbista/vibrafonista e riconosciuto compositore Stefano Del Sole e dal noto bassista e compositore Viz Maurogiovanni. Quando intraprendono il loro viaggio musicale, percorrono luoghi dove lo stile moderno di suonare la kora dà un'anima diversa allo strumento tradizionale africano. Con i loro differenti background, attraversano e collegano delicatamente stili, generi e influenze contemporanee, contaminandosi liberamente con jazz, fusion, funky, pop, elementi elettronici e antiche canzoni afro dal sapore ancestrale.
Kora Connection was founded in 2022 by Diego Catalano, a kora player, percussionist, and composer. He takes his love for the kora beyond its physical and stylistic boundaries, building and exploring new musical soundscapes with his compositions. He is joined by the eclectic marimbist/vibraphonist and renowned composer Stefano Del Sole, and the well-known bassist and composer Viz Maurogiovanni. As they embark on their musical journey, they travel to places where the modern style of playing the kora gives a different soul to the traditional African instrument. With their different backgrounds, they gently traverse and connect contemporary styles, genres, and influences, freely contaminating themselves with jazz, fusion, funky, pop, electronic elements, and ancient Afro songs with an ancestral flavor.
