Giacomo Grassi si è formato come musicista classico e ha più avanti espanso la sua estetica dal jazz alla musica elettroacustica. Si è esibito nel Regno Unito, dove ha studiato al Farnham College - Surrey; a Gerusalemme e a Ramallah in Palestina/Israele, presso The Franco-German Cultural Centre; in Francia con Sin[x]thesis al Festival International de Musique Universitaire (FIMU) di Belfort; in Germania, dove la sua composizione Geographies è stata scelta per l’esecuzione alla HMTMH di Hannover. Un’intervista circa l’ideazione e il processo di composizione è stata pubblicata su: "Ways ahead - Proceedings of the First Csound Conference"; Cambridge Scholar Publishing, 2013. Nel 2011 nell’ambito del Progetto Guaccero, Giacomo Grassi ha diretto a Monopoli la sua composizione Apres la côte, blanc per orchestra jazz ed elettronica. Ha composto la musica elettronica per La Tempesta di William Shakespeare, regia di Craig Peritz, rappresentata nel Maggio-Giugno 2011 al Teatro Eutheca di Roma. Le sue composizioni elettroacustiche possono essere ascoltate sul sito sonus.ca Nel 2008/09, con l'Associazione franco-palestinese 'Al Kamandjati', ha insegnato Pianoforte a bambini e ragazzi palestinesi a Ramallah, Jenin, nei villaggi e nei campi profughi della Cisgiordania. Lavorando col produttore Giovanni Amighetti ha registrato il disco per pianoforte solista Across the Stars (Dicembre 2015, Arte Sonora). Nel 2016 pubblica il disco Essence, una sorta di manifesto della sua estetica pianistica, dove inizia a delinearsi un'identità poetica precisa, non confondibile. Nato a Grottaglie (Ta) nel dicembre 1984, Giacomo Grassi si è diplomato in Pianoforte nel 2004, specializzandosi poi in Discipline Musicali ad indirizzo interpretativo compositivo all’Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Giovanni Paisiello di Taranto; in Jazz, con lode, al Conservatorio Nino Rota di Monopoli; e in Musica Elettronica al Conservatorio Niccolò Piccinni di Bari. Si è laureato in Scienze Filosofiche, con lode, all’Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro con la tesi in ermeneutica filosofica "La vaghezza fertile dell’archiscrittura. Jacques Derrida".

He wrote the electronic music for William Shakespeare's The Tempest, directed by Craig Peritz on May-June 2011 at the Eutheca Theatre in Rome. His electroacoustic compositions can be listened to on sonus.ca In 2008/09, for the Franco-Palestinian Association 'Al Kamandjati', he taught Piano to Palestinian children and kids in Ramallah, Jenin, in villages and refugee camps of the West Bank. Working with the producer Giovanni Amighetti, he recorded the piano solo album Across the Stars released on December 1, 2015 for Arte Sonora. In 2016 he publishes the album Essence, a sort of manifesto of his pianistic aesthetics, where a precise poetical identity starts to emerge. He then specialized in Interpretative & Compositional studies at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Giovanni Paisiello of Taranto; in Jazz, cum laude, at the Conservatorio Nino Rota of Monopoli; and in Electroacoustics at the Conservatorio Niccolò Piccinni of Bari. Giacomo Grassi graduated in Philosophy, cum laude, at the Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro with the thesis in philosophical hermeneutics "La vaghezza fertile dell’archiscrittura. Jacques Derrida".
