B.I.G is not just a band but a journey that began when two different yet similar souls met; Nicholas Boccuzzi, a southern Italian, and Moses Howard, an American from New Jersey. They merged their languages in a jam session that was moved by a vital impulse that runs through space and time. Nicola decided to close the circle by adding Donny Balice and Walter Celi...a project that retraces already seen past cycles more or less remote from a historical era. A project that sees built walls everywhere in a world that marginalizes people and ethnic groups, nevertheless B.I.G intends to tear down these walls and close distances. B.I.G touches the listener's soul while taking them by hand on a journey within that wonderful universe called 'MAN'.
The album B.I.G. is the sum of the life experiences of four musicians with a common denominator: the Black Music. It is nine tracks mainly instrumental in which the four lay bare their own worlds, blending them into a better one... sublimated and sublimating the listener. So starting from the black fingers of Howard supported by the pulse of Boccuzzi, enhanced by sound carpets Balice and super bit Celi, switching from influences of Robert Glasper to Snarky Puppy, from Bootsy Collins to Christian Scott and the powerful Roy Hargrove RH Factor, all overseen by King Davis. In the song "Hope in a boat" dedicated to all migrants crossing the sea in a boat putting all the hopes and dreams of a better life, we find the pathos and ancestral memory of Fela Kuti legacies. Not missing two songs sung: Never Alone pure Funk with the voice of Liliana Marzo and Scream Harder a song pop soul sung by drummer Walter Celi with the choirs of Paola Caterina. Precious collaboration on disc of Paolo Pace on sax and flute, Vito Scavo Trombone and effects and Martha Montelongo Garcia from Mexico City with his violin on Funk Shui. Have a nice trip and StayBig!
